Greenwood Daylily Gardens - Bearded Irises


Tall Bearded iris are the aristocrats of the perennial garden. Each year they boldly proclaim the arrival of Spring with their breathtaking beauty and fragrance. For us this means a bloom period from late March through early June. All prices for the bearded iris listed below are for bare root single division rhizomes shipped mid June through February. Your order is freshly dug just prior to shipment and should be planted immediately. Dried out rhizomes from other sources may survive, but may take a year or two to recover their vigor. One-gallon and five-gallon container grown plants are also available.

‘GRANDMA’S PURPLE FLAG’ $9.00 This familiar 15”-20” little gem is found in old home sites throughout America. Small “Van Gogh style” clear purple blooms have bluish beards and a spicy fragrance. Erect, spiky foliage is very heat and cold tolerant. Multiple rebloom cycles each year.

‘GREAT GRANDMA’S PURPLE FLAG’ $10.00 A bit taller than ‘Grandma’s Purple” with softer, more shade tolerant foliage. Profuse purple blooms have small white and gold beards. Excellent for coastal conditions. Multiple rebloom cycles each year.

HINDENBURG Discontinued. ‘Orange Harvest’ is more vigorous.

IDA RED $14.00 We’ve been hoarding this one for years, and finally have enough. Vigorous, medium height plant with glowing wine red blooms. Multiple rebloom cycles each year.

IMMORTALITY $10.00 Famous bluish white rebloomer. ‘Van Gogh style” blooms. Medium height. Sweet fragrance. Consistent rebloom for us.

iris pallida ‘zebra’ (aureo variegata) $8.00 This garden favorite is grown more for its striking creamy variegated deciduous foliage than its fragrant blue blooms. Avoid intense heat and poor drainage.

iris p.‘white zebra’(argenteo variegata) $10.00 Similar to ‘Zebra’ but with white or “silver” variegation. Less vigorous.

JENNIFER REBECCA $9.00 The first modern repeat blooming true pink. Slow growing. Combine with ‘Sweet Musette’ for an extended show. Consistent rebloom for us.

JURASSIC PARK $12.00 A show stopper! Tall, branched stalks with huge, well-spaced blooms. Standards are a smoky yellow and falls are dramatic purple. One bloomstalk in a vase makes an instant flower arrangement. Consistent rebloom for us.

MARY FRANCES $8.00 Large clean pure lavender blooms and handsome foliage make this a favorite with landscape professionals. Nice fragrance. Try it near wisteria, French lavender or ‘Iceberg’ roses. Reblooms best within five miles of the coast. Will rebloom at other times, but not consistently.

MERRY MADRIGAL Discontinued. ‘Jurassic Park’ is better.

ORANGE HARVEST $14.00 Medium height, soft clear orange with deep orange beards. Consistent rebloom for us.

PAPRIKA FONOS $8.00 A vigorous early season bloomer in rich earth tones. Buff ivory blooms are almost completely covered with spots and splashes of paprika. Blooms appear red from a distance. Consistent rebloom for us.

PERSIAN BERRY $8.00 Captivating color provokes comments from all our visitors. Rich orchid pink blooms with hints of lavender look slightly different every day. Extremely vigorous growth and extended bloom season.
